Kidnappers freed on Wednesday evening a teenager who was abducted in Lamitan City, Basilan, almost two months ago, police said.

Government troops recovered Nico Sebastian near Brgy. Semut, Akbar, and Tuburan proper around 6 p.m., Dir. Felicisimo Khu, chief of the PNP Directorate for Integrated Police Operations in Western Mindanao, said in a text message.

The 19-year-old Sebastian, a resident of Brgy. Lumoton, failed to return home after being fetched by a friend in the afternoon of May 19.

Nadsmir Abubakar alias Marvin/Totoh, a former neighbor of Sebastian, reportedly asked the latter to play billiards and fetched him with a motorcycle.

Khu said in an earlier report that the Lamitan City Police filed kidnapping for ransom charges against several people, including Abubakar and one Arasad Jion, an alleged MILF commander who held Sebastian captive. (John Roson)
