Police still consider the disappearance of six foam bed vendors in Davao City as a case of “missing” persons as no information has so far been gathered on their whereabouts or alleged abductors.

“‘Di pa namin ma-determine kung sinong grupo ang nag-abduct dun, although may pamilya na pumunta rito na nanghihingi ng tulong, but wala pang nag-confirm kung talagang they were really abducted,” city police director Senior Supt. Rene Aspera said in a phone interview.

“Missing lang kasi walang nag-confirm kung nasaan sila eh, walang nagtawag kung nasaan sila,” he added.

Earlier this week, police sent intelligence operatives to Paquibato district to track down the six merchants, who relatives feared may have been abducted by members of the New People’s Army.

“On our part, nag-iimbestiga pa rin kami, kung inabduct talaga sila ng taga-itaas, talagang ‘yan nagsasabi sila na hawak nila o kung saan, pero sa ngayon wala,” Aspera said. (John Roson)
