Government troops rescued in Sumisip, Basilan, on Monday afternoon a British national’s common-law wife who they abducted in Zamboanga Sibugay, after a clash with Abu Sayyaf members.
Luisa Galvez, owner of the RL Salon & Spa in Ipil, was rescued around 3 p.m., Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command spokesman Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang said.
Galvez suffered “slight injuries” on her legs amid the clash between members of the 4th Scout Ranger Battalion and the Abu Sayyaf, Cabangbang said in text message.
According to Cabangbang, members of the 4th SRB were tracking armed men at Sitio Bohe Peyat, Brgy. Baiwas, when they encountered the group led by Abu Sayyaf sub-leaders Radzmer Temmeng Jannatul and Juhayver alias Abu Kik.
“The ASG had in custody the kidnap victim during the encounter,” the regional military spokesman said.
Cabagbang said the Westmincom recieved field reports that Abu Sayyaf members Abu Sa-id, Abdul Aziz, and one Mukim got killed while seven other bandits were injured.
The reports also indicated that a certain Radzmil and Abdulah, both of Cotabato, were seen with the Abu Sayyaf members.
Galvez is the live-in partner of Raymund George Morrison, a British national working for an oil company based in Malaysia. (John Roson)
