Three people got killed while two others were seriously injured when a pick-up truck crashed into their home in Butuan City on Monday, police said.
Superintendent Martin Gamba, Caraga regional police spokesman, identified the fatalities as Maximo Lariba, 60, Samuel Robillos, 53, and Antonio Buyan, 73.
The three were declared dead on arrival at the Butuan Doctors Hospital while Lariba’s wife Teresita, 52, and son Jimjim, 18, are in critical condition, Gamba said.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. while Manuel Cayetano was driving the Nissan Frontier Navarra pick-up (ZTX-677) along the National Highway, from Surigao City to Cotabato City.
Upon reaching Purok 4, Brgy. Sto Niño, of Butuan, the pick-up was allegedly sideswiped by an unknown vehicle until it swerved, crashed into Lariba’s home, and hit the people inside, Gamba said.
Cayetano and the pick-up are presently under the custody of Butuan City Police Station 4. (John Roson)
