A gold panner and his 2-year-old daughter got killed after being shot by a still unidentified assailant while sleeping inside their home in Barobo, Surigao del Sur, police reported.

Bienvenido Tamosa, 34, and his daughter Princess Krizha Mhae succumbed to multiple bullet wounds on their bodies, Caraga regional police spokesman Supt. Martin Gamba said.

An unidentified man entered the Tamosas’ house in Brgy. Kinayan around 11 p.m. Thursday and repeatedly shot the two while they were sleeping, according to the regional police spokesman.

Responding policemen found at the scene at least 17 spent shells of a carbine rifle.

Investigators are looking into several angles, including Tamosa’s recent brush with the New People’s Army, as motive for the shooting.

Before the incident, Tamosa ignored the NPA’s invitation to have a dialogue at the mountainous area of Brgy. Tambis, Gamba said. (John Roson)
