A government militiaman was found dead after being abducted by suspected New People’s Army (NPA) members who stormed a village in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay, early Saturday.
The militiaman, identified only by the surname Abordo, was found lying lifeless at a creek located 400 meters away from the center of Brgy. Palinta around 11:30 a.m., Army chief Lt. Gen. Arturo Ortiz said.
According to the official, about 30 fully-armed men entered Brgy. Palinta proper around 6:20 a.m., looking for militiamen who led government troops to their camp last week.
The armed group seized Abordo and two other members of the Civilian Active Auxiliary, but the two managed to escape, Ortiz said.
Members of the 10th Infantry Battalion are pursuing the armed group as of this writing. (John Roson)
