Armed men shot to death a police detective at an auto repair shop in Lemery, Batangas, Saturday morning, the town’s police chief said.
Chief Insp. Rey Ochavo, Lemery Police chief, identified the victim as PO3 Noel Villalobos, of the Batangas Provincial Criminal Investigation and Detection Team.
Villalobos, 41, was brought to the Our Lady of Caysasay Hospital due to bullet wounds on different parts of the body, but died while undergoing treatment, Ochavo said.
The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. in Brgy. Lucky.
Villalobos, who was in civilian clothes, was having the engine oil in his car changed when shot by two men armed with caliber-.45 pistols, Ochavo said.
After the incident, a dragnet operation was activated in the province to intercept the suspects, who were said to have escaped on foot towards Brgy. Maguihan.
Investigators are still looking at several angles, including Villalobos’ job as a detective, to determine the motive for the shooting, Ochavo said. (John Roson)
