Kidnappers freed a Korean businessman in Salvador, Lanao del Norte, on Thursday night, a month after abducting him and two others in Cagayan de Oro City, police said.
Chief Supt. Jufel Adriatico, Northern Mindanao regional police director, said Choi Inn So was abandoned by his captors in Brgy. Kalimudan around 9:35 p.m.
Police and military troops were then pursuing the abductors at the boundary of Salvador and Brgy. Deguyanan in Madamba, Lanao del Sur, Adriatico said.
“I ordered my field units in Lanao del Norte to continue pursuing the kidnappers until the remaining two Korean kidnap victims are rescued,” Adriatico said, adding that he has already informed the Korea Embassy of Choi’s release.
Choi, Woo Shu Bong, and Kim Nam Dou were kidnapped at the Miami Inn Hotel in Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City, on October 21. The three were said to have been invited by locals to inspect a mining site in Lanao del Sur. (John Roson)
