A security guard and civilian employee got killed in a shootout with armed men who tried to rob a softdrinks company’s warehouse in Passi City, Iloilo, the other night, police said.
Agusto Montefrio, security guard at the Pepsi Cola warehouse warehouse along Simeon Aguilar st., and helper Roy Padernal both died while being brought to a local hospital, Senior Supt. Gil Lebin, Iloilo provincial police director, said.
Another warehouse employee, identified as Charlie Salvante, was wounded and is now recuperating in the hospital.
About six armed men entered the warehouse’s compound and declared a robbery, but Montefrio engaged them in a shootout, Lebin said.
“The suspects fled and were not able to open the cash vault,” he added. (John Roson)
