Fifteen policemen in Southern Mindanao are facing charges after testing positive for illegal drugs.

Senior Insp. Gretchin Cinco, deputy regional police spokesperson, said the 15 comprise 10 policemen in Davao City, two in Davao del Norte, two in Davao Oriental, and one in Compostela Valley.

“They all tested positive after undergoing the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s series of mandatory tests in different police units this year,” Cinco said in a phone interview.

Six of those who tested positive were already found guilty of the administrative case grave misconduct and have been dismissed from police service, Cinco said.

The six were identified as SPO1 Raymundo Alvarez, SPO1 Ferdinand Bernabas, SPO1 Juanito Pamudpamud, PO3 Rodel Asutan, PO2 Zalde Rom, and PO1 Armando Vete, all of the Davao City Police.

“Criminal cases may also be filed against them,” Cinco said, adding that the others who were found to be using illegal drugs are still undergoing pre-trial investigation. (John Roson)
