Authorities recovered from a septic tank in Kalibo, Aklan, on Thursday the remains of a woman who was reported missing eight months ago.

The remains were traced after the woman allegedly visited her siblings in their dreams, giving them a hint of her ordeal.

Members of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Kalibo Police found the decomposing body around 9:45 a.m., PO3 Nida Gregas, Aklan Provincial Police spokesperson, said.

The remains are strongly believed to be that of Elisa Malacas, who was reported missing by her Filipino-Chinese husband Benny Dy in April, Gregas said in a phone interview.

It was not immediately known how the woman was killed because the cadaver was decomposing and already partly skeletal.

Dy is now detained at the Kalibo Police Station while being investigated for possible involvement in his wife’s murder.

“Ipina-blotter niya (Dy) eight months ago na nawawala ‘yung asawa niya, umalis daw tapos di na bumalik, pero inamin na nag-away sila. Nagpakalat at nag-post pa siya ng mga poster ng asawa niya noon,” Gregas said.

The septic tank is located behind the ancestral home of the affluent Ramos family at the corner of XIX Martyrs and Goding Ramos sts., Brgy. Poblacion, just adjacent to Dy’s house, she said.

The septic tank’s concrete cover appears to have been replaced just recently, Gregas noted.

Meanwhile, Elisa’s brother Raul Malacas said in an interview by a local television station that he sought the NBI’s help after his sister appeared several times in his dreams.

“Sa panaginip daw, nakikita niya ‘yung kapatid niya na napapaligiran ng pader, parang manhole. Ganoon din daw ang naging panaginip ng isa pa nilang kapatid sa Spain,” Gregas said. (John Roson)
