A 16-year-old drug suspect got killed as he shot it out with policemen in Davao City early Saturday, a police official said.

Senior Supt. Ronald dela Rosa, city police director, said suspect Umpar Macaric was only identified after getting killed in the 6 a.m. shootout.

According to Dela Rosa, elements of the Davao City Police Station 1 were following up on a robbery incident along Quezon Blvd. when they noticed two males showing each other sachets of suspected shabu.

The lawmen approcahed the two and were able to arrest one, identified as Allan Ampaso Germon, 21, of Purok 4, Isla Verde.

“The other suspect ran away and drew a caliber-.22 revolver then pointed it at the chasing oficers, resulting in the gunfight,” Dela Rosa said in a text message.

Macaric succumbed to two bullet wounds to the chest, according to the police official.

Found at the scene were two elongated sachets of suspected shabu and the caliber-.22 revolver, which was still loaded with six live ammunition. (John Roson)
