Four members of a family, including two children, were found dead inside their home in a remote area of Lopez, Quezon, early Thursday after being hacked by still unidentified assailants.
Senior Supt. Erickson Velasquez, Quezon Provincial Police director, identified the victims as Teresita, 60; Victoria, 40; Kim Cyrill, 11; and Jerick, 6, all members of the Osana family.
The bodies were found around 8:45 a.m. inside their home at Sitio Central, Brgy. Banabahin Ilaya, which is located about 10 kilometers from the Lopez town proper.
The victims bore hack wounds but an initial probe found no sign of struggle, leading police to suspect that the incident happened during the night or wee hours of the morning.
“(The) victims were presumably hacked while sleeping, (there is) no sign of struggle inside the house,” Velasquez said in a text message.
Local authorities are still trying to determine the assailants’ identities and motive as of this posting. (John Roson)
