Two people died while two others remain missing amid bad weather caused by a low-pressure area (LPA) in the Bicol region, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

In a report issued Thursday evening, the NDRRMC identified the fatalities as Aida Fusan Floralde, of Brgy. San Francisco in Bulusan, Sorsogon, and Jomar Gordola Brezuela, of Brgy. Obrero, Bulan, in the same province.

Floralde, 61, drowned while trying to cross a flooded bailey bridge. The 19-year-old Brezuela drowned at the Sabang Beach after experiencing leg cramps while swimming amid strong water current, according to the report.

A landslide also occurred in Bulan, burying the house of a kagawad in Brgy. G. del Pilar, but no casualties were reported, the NDRRMC said.

All incidents occurred on Wednesday while heavy rains brought by the LPA were dumping water in Sorsogon.

In an earlier report, the NDRRMC said fishermen Micheal Toonan, 22, and Efren Templonuevo, 50, went missing Tuesday morning.

The two, both residents of District II in Gigmoto, Catanduanes, were said to be out on sea on a 12-horsepower motor banca.

Also on Tuesday, a landslide damaged three houses in Brgy. 8, Catbalogan, Samar, the NDRRMC said. (John Roson)
