A Japanese man who allegedly committed suicide was found in front of a church in Davao City early Friday.

Hishoki Kobayashi, 48, was found around 5:45 a.m. at a vacant lot in front of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Church in Diho Subd., Brgy. Cabantian, Buhangin district, city police director Senior Supt. Ronald dela Rosa said.

Kobayashi, married to a Filipina and a resident of Almond drive, Ecoland Subd., had a bullet wound on the right portion of his head, Dela Rosa said.

A caliber-.45 pistol with a magazine loaded with six bullets, a clutch bag containing two bullets, and a spent shell were found near the body.

Around 2 p.m., the Consular Office of Japan in Davao through its director, Kazuhiko Anzai, gave the police an alleged suicide note, Dela Rosa said.

The note, which Kobayashi allegedly gave his mother-in-law before the incident, was delievered to the Consular Office by his wife Marites, according to the police official.

Members of the Davao City Police Station 5 are still conducting further investigation to determine if Kobayashi really killed himself, Dela Rosa said. (John Roson)
