A man got killed while two others were injured when an explosion ripped through the house of a policeman which they were renting, in Zamboanga City, Monday afternoon, a military spokesman said.

The fatality was only identified as a certain Fahad while those injured were Benhar Samali and Alji, Capt. Albert Caber, spokesman of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, said.

The explosion occurred around 5:15 p.m. at a home in Baliwasan Tabuk, Brgy. Baliwasan.

The fatality and injured persons are reportedly renting the home, which is owned by a certain SPO4 Nurul Samali, assigned at the Sulu Provincial Police Office.

Members of the Army’s Task Force Zamboanga and 3rd Explosives and Ordnance Disposal unit are still trying to determine what exploded, despite initial reports indicating that a locally-made dynamite for illegal fishing went off. (John Roson)
