Four people were killed while 16 others were injured when the dumptruck they were riding turned turtle in South Upi, Maguindanao, Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Senior Supt. Marcelo Pintac, Maguindanao provincial police director, identified the fatalities as Flordeliza Binas, Bon-Bon Binas, Femie Tecson, and Joy-Joy Samillano, all residents of neighboring Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.
The four died on the spot while 16 other people on the truck were brought to the Lebak District Hospital, Pintac said.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. while Wilfredo Casumpang was driving the dumptruck (SKT-760), owned by the Sultan Kudarat provincial government, along Sitio Cocob, Brgy. Kuya.
“He (Casumpang) accidentally lost control due to mechanical error until the truck turned turtle,” Pintac said.
Casumpang is now under the South Upi police’s custody while charges are being prepared against him. (John Roson)
