Authorities arrested an alleged Abu Sayyaf member wanted for kidnappings in Sulu and Basilan during an operation in Isabela City Thursday, police said.
Jumli Orie Manjuri was arrested around 12 noon in Brgy. Cabunbata, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, head of the PNP Police-Community Relations Group, said.
Members of the PNP 5th Special Action Battalion, Anti-Kidnapping Group, 9th Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (9th RCIDU), and Air Force carried out the operation on warrants issued by courts in Sulu and Basilan, Cruz said.
Manjuri, who uses the alias Salam Jumli, is facing charges of kidnapping with frustrated murder at the Jolo Regional Trial Court Branch 3, as well as kidnapping and serious illegal detention at the Isabela City RTC Branch 1, the police official said.
The suspect was brought to the 9th RCIDU headquarters in Camp Batalla, Zamboanga City, before being turned over to the courts, Cruz said. (John Roson)
