Three people drowned when a flash flood caused by heavy rains hit a village in T’boli, South Cotabato, Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Killed were Jocelyn Gulac, 23, Jasmin Gulac, 12, and Maricel Buhale, 13, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
Heavy rains caused the Sapali River to overflow and sweep the three away, the agency said.
“Tumaas yung tubig sa ilog, nalunod sila,” Senior Supt. Randolph Delfin, South Cotabato provincial police director, said, adding that rescuers recovered the bodies the same day and brought them to a local funeral parlor.
The incident occurred in Brgy. Sinolon around 4:30 p.m. (John Roson)
