(Update) Three security guards were killed after being shot by armed men who robbed their bank in Lucena City, Quezon, Thursday afternoon, police said.
Joel Barrameda and Roldan Consigna, both guards of United Coconut Planters Bank’s (UCBP) Lucena branch, were brought to the Quezon Medical Center, but expired along the way, Senior Supt. Valeriano de Leon, Quezon provincial police director, said.
The third guard, identified as Marlo de Guzman, was brought to the Mt. Carmel Hospital, also due to multiple bullet wounds, but was declared dead on arrival by doctors, according to a report sent by the Quezon PNP’s public information office in the evening.
Barrameda, Consigna, and De Guzman all work for Ultra Security Services, the agency that provides guards to the UCPB branch along Quezon ave., the report said.
An undetermined number of armed men staged the heist at the bank around 3:05 p.m., De Leon said in a text message.
The suspects fled towards the direction of Brgy. Talipan, Pagbilao, on a blue Toyota Revo (XHC-759) after the incident, he said.
The vehicle, registered to a certain Reynaldo D. Cruz, of Gen. Luna st., Brgy. Dulong Bayan, in San Mateo, Rizal, was later found abandoned at the back of a lumber shop in Purok Riverside, Brgy. Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City.
Police are still pursuing the suspects as of this writing.
