Up to 71 houses and P1.3 million worth of properties were destroyed when a whirlwind ravaged four villages in Jagna, Bohol, Friday morning, authorities said.

The whirlwind passed through Brgys. Can-upao, Bunga Mar, Cantagay, and Ipil, all coastal villages, around 10:45 a.m., Minda Morante, Office of Civil Defense 7 director, said in her report.

The strong wind caused an initial P800,000 worth of damage on houses, P300,000 on 13 wrecked motor bancas, and P200,000 on store goods and fruit-bearing trees.

No casualties were reported as of this writing. (John Roson)
