The driver of a Manila-bound bus was killed while 14 of his passengers were injured after the vehicle rammed a tree along the Maharlika Highway in Prosperidad, Agusan Del Sur, on Friday, police said.
Danilo Hadlocon, 42, driver of the Philtranco Bus (EVK-165) and resident of Silago, Southern Leyte, died on the spot, Caraga regional police spokesman Supt. Martin Gamba said.
Fourteen of the bus’ 42 passengers suffered injuries on the different parts of the body and were brought to the Democrito Plaza Memorial Hospital, but were allowed to leave after recieving treatment, he said.
The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. while Hadlocon was driving the bus along the highway in Purok 2, Brgy. Sta. Irene.
Hadlocon was driving the bus from Davao City, on the way to Manila, when he allegedly fell asleep so the vehicle crashed into a falcata tree along the road, Gamba said. (John Roson)
