Three people drowned while two others are still reportedly missing after a pumpboat capsized at a river in Kabacan, North Cotabato, police said Thursday.
Three passengers of the pumpboat were found along the Pulangi River around 5 p.m. Wednesday, Senior Supt. Roque Alcantara, North Cotabato provincial police director, said.
The bodies are those of Lilibeth Mandayas, 24; Bobong Marabe, 43, and his son, Bobs, 9, Alcantara said.
All three were found far from the area in Brgy. Tamped where the pumpboat capsized 5 a.m. that day.
“Malayo na ho kasi na-agos na sila ng tubig,” Alcantara said, adding that the fatalities are indigenous peoples.
Maryjane Abarca, 24, and Genevive Saliling, 9, are still missing while 14 other boat passengers survived, Office of Civil Defense administrator Benito Ramos said.
