A Korean national and his Filipino-American classmate drowned while swimming at the Visai Waterfalls in Morong, Bataan, police said.

Korean Jaebak Jung was recovered minutes after he drowned Wednesday afternoon and brought to the Morong Health Center, but expired along the way, Bataan provincial police spokesman Senior Insp. Dennis Orbista said.

Jung’s Filipino-American classmate, Kyle Julian Weckman, was found dead Thursday morning by rescuers from the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.

The incident occurred around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, while Jung, Weckman, and other students of the Cebu International School (CIS) based in Cebu City were swimming at the waterfalls in Sitio Kanawan.

Before swimming at the falls, five teachers and 42 students of CIS, including Jung and Weckman, conducted a “community service” activity for students of the Kanawan Elementary School, Orbista said. (John Roson)
