A man hacked his neighbor to death after seeing the latter and his wife kissing at the back of their home in Guinayangan, Quezon, police reported Friday.

Farmer Christopher Mendoza, 25, hacked Hermie De Vera, 42, on the different parts of the body, killing the latter on the spot, according to a report from the Quezon Provincial Police.

The incident occurred in Sitio Nabangka, Brgy. Capuluan, around 8 p.m. Thursday after Mendoza went light fishing, locally called “pangingilaw,” in a nearby river.

Mendoza, still carrying his flashlight, spotted his wife and De Vera kissing each other at the back of his house, according to the report.

The enraged farmer then pulled out his bolo and attacked De Vera, who tried to escape but was unfortunately caught.

Responding policemen found at the scene De Vera’s cellphone, slippers, and flashlight. Mendoza’s slippers and flashlight sling and cap were also there.

Before the incident, Mendoza already suspected that his wife and De Vera were having an affair because of text messages he saw on her cellphone, the report said.

Mendoza escaped along with his wife and bolo after Thursday’s incident. (John Roson)
