Armed men, including one wearing a shirt with police markings, hijacked a trailer truck in Batangas City early Wednesday and dumped its crew on Lipa City, police said.
Driver Rederdo Castillan and his helpers Ronie Topular and Gilmar Pasigado told Lipa City police that their truck was hijacked around 2 a.m. in Brgy. Pinamucan, Batangas Provincial Police information officer Insp. Aleli Buaquen said.
Five armed men, of whom one was wearing a black shirt printed with the word “PULIS,” hogtied and blindfolded Castillan and his helpers before throwing them into a van, Buaquen said, citing an initial field report.
Castillan, Topular, and Pasigado later found themselves at a grassy vacant lot near a gasoline station in Brgy. Banay-Banay, Lipa City.
The three then rode a jeepney to a bus terminal, where they sought aid from policemen who brought them to the city’s police station, Buaquen said.
Authorities are still tracking down the hijacked truck which, according to Castillan and his helpers, bears the registration plate WFW-752 and is loaded with materials for making PVC pipes. (John Roson)
