Suspected New People’s Army (NPA) members shot dead a man near his home in Bacuag, Surigao del Norte, on Tuesday, police said.

Edgardo Tadifa, 50, succumbed to bullet wounds on the different parts of the body, Caraga regional police spokesman Supt. Martin Gamba said.

The incident occurred around 6 a.m. while Tadifa was walking to his home in Sitio Baliw, Brgy. Payapag.

Tadifa just finished feeding farm animals at his parents’ residence just 50 meters away, when he was shot to death by four men wearing fatigue uniforms, Gamba said.

Local police found at the scene 14 empty shells and a bullet of an AK-47 rifle and an M16 rifle bullet, he said.

Members of the Bacuag Police are still trying to determine the assailants’ identities and motive. (John Roson)
