A man jumped to his death from the Hall of Justice in Bacolod City Wednesday, after being arrested for mauling his mother-in-law and stabbing a policeman.
Hector Villarosa, 54, died on the spot after he jumped from the Hall of Justice’s third floor, Western Visayas regional police director Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz said.
The incident happened shortly after police presented Villarosa to prosecutors for inquest proceedings, Cruz said.
Members of the Bacolod City Police Station 7 arrested Villarosa past 11 p.m. Tuesday in Purok Kabugwason, Brgy. Mansilingan.
Villarosa’s mother-in-law Teresita Bagiu, 56, earlier told police that the former choked her.
Lawmen invited Villarosa to the station but he refused and stabbed PO1 Antonio Jimeno on the back with a “butcher’s knife,” Cruz said.
Jimeno was brought to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center for treatment. (John Roson)
