Ten people, including three Chinese nationals, were seriously injured when a passenger bus slammed into a truck in Cordon, Isabela, early Friday, police said.
Among those hurt were Chinese nationals Zhu Shu Bo, Ling Liyang, and Wang Yong Seng, all passengers of the Florida bus (BVR-369), Senior Supt. Franklin Mabanag, Isabela Provincial Police director, said.
Also injured were bus driver Pablo Antonio Jr., conductor Jun Gahondran, passengers Natividad Pacleb, Ronulfo Cabillan, Bonifacio Ibarra, Teresita Ibarra, and tractor trailer truck driver Sadiri Salviejo, Mabanag said in a text message.
The incident occurred around 2:50 a.m. at the junction going to Quirino province, which is located along the National Highway in Brgy. Laurel.
Antonio was driving the bus to Cagayan when a motorcycle allegedly darted out of the junction, Mabanag said.
Antonio tried to avoid the motorcycle but the bus “run-slammed” into to rear portion of the tractor trailer truck parked on the highway’s left shoulder, the police official said. (John Roson)
