Twenty-six people were injured when the passenger bus they were riding figured in an accident in Tupi, South Cotabato, Monday night, authorities said.

The 26 were brought to different hospitals with the help of the local government, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

All were passengers of a Husky bus (MVV-171) that figured in an accident in Brgy. Crossing Rubber around 7 p.m., the NDRRMC said in a report.

Supt. Marvin Fontalva, Tupi Police chief, said the bus skid and turned one side down along the National Highway.

“Nawalan ng control ‘yung driver kaya siya tumagilid,” Fontalva told Bandera in a phone interview.

The passengers only suffered “slight injuries” and some were allowed to go home immediately after treatment, he said, adding that the driver is in now police custody. (John Roson)
