Twelve people were injured when a mini-bus slammed into the tail of another mini-bus in Hermosa, Bataan, on Monday, police reported.

The incident occurred along the Mac Arthur Highway in Brgy. Mandama around 9:30 a.m., according to a report from the Bataan Provincial Police.

Injured were Myra Matacot, 25, Loida Calma, 28, both of Abucay; Cecilia Pastolero, 53, Aira Jun Aquino, 17, Christine Michelle Ibarreta, 25, Sherwin Mallari, 32, Marilou Manabat, 40, Jose Antonio Lim, 2, all of Dinalupihan; Sherwin Medina, 24, Meynard Lee Montemayor, 20, both of Hermosa; Eulalia Layawen, 65, of Orani; and Rowena Dela Cruz, 41, of Samal.

The 12, all passengers of the mini-bus driven by Nestor Varona, were taken to the Jose Payumo Hospital for treatment, the report said.

Investigation showed that Varona was driving the mini-bus (CVB-586) from Olongapo to Balanga City, when it was hit from behind by another mini-bus (CVA-598) driven by Constantino Morales Jr.

The incident also caused a still unestimated amount of damages to both vehicles, police said. (John Roson)
