A 28-year-old woman was arrested for transporting P550,000 worth of marijuana bricks on a passenger bus in Tabuk City, Kalinga, police said Saturday.

Merlyn Guimba, a native of Tinglayan, was arrested around 6 a.m. Thursday when the bus she was riding passed through a checkpoint in Sitio Talaka, Brgy. Agbannawang, Cordillera regional police director Chief Supt. Benjamin Magalong said.

Operatives at the checkpoint siezed from Guimba 22 bricks of dried marijuana weighing about one kilogram each, Magalong said.

Investigators have yet to determine who the contraband was intended for, but the bus was headed for Baguio City, he said. (John Roson)
