Three persons were killed while 10 others were injured when a passenger bus rammed a house in Enrique B. Magalona town, Negros Occidental, where several people were playing bingo Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Florida Pelagio, 38, Gaspar Pelagio, 6, and Jillianne Lamis, 1, expired while being brought to a hospital, according to Senior Insp. Arnold Mesias, officer-in-charge of the local police.

Injured were Geraldine Pelagio, 15; Gabriel Pelagio, 4 months; Geraldine Lamis, 27; Ma. Joanna Rose Mae Delfin, 13; Alexis Penuela, 19; Wilma Salis, 12; Aspril Jereme, 13; and three bus passengers of whom two were identified as Ian Asuyon, 17; and Merlie Bagyo, 49.

The incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. while the Pelagios, Lamises, and their relatives and neighbors were playing bingo in Brgy. Damgo, Mesias said in his report.

Jess Martinez was then driving the Ceres bus (FWY-918) along the National Highway in the same barangay.

Martinez tried to overtake another vehicle but hesitated and as the bus was returning to its lane, it swerved and hit the house where the victims were playing, Mesias said.

All victims were taken to the Silay City Hospital, where three were declared dead by doctors.

The surviving victims have been transferred to different hospitals in Bacolod City for further treatment. (John Roson)
