One person was killed while six others were injured when tons of gravel fell from a truck and into a service vehicle at the JG Summit industrial compound in Batangas City Friday noon, police said.

The truck was turning right to enter the compound in Brgy. Simlong 11:45 a.m. when it listed to the left, PO3 Dante Reabad, police investigator handling the case, said by phone.

“Almost all” of the 10 tons of crack gravel on the truck fell on the service vehicle, which was parked at the compound’s entrance with some laborers on board, he said.

Seven laborers, including the service vehicle’s driver, were brought to the hospital, but one died along the way.

Police are tracking down the still unidentified truck driver, who escaped after the incident. (End)
